Who Was Frank Ronay?
Within the Ronay family, originally from Budapest, several members were recognized as the preferred jewelers of the court of Emperor Franz Joseph, head of the Austro-Hungarian empire until the First World War. Frank Ronay, one of the members born in 1887, emigrated to Mexico in 1923 and created the "First National Factory of Alhajas, SA", which was the first professional jewelry factory in the Mexican Republic officially recognized by the government.
His great knowledge in gems and high quality manufacturing techniques gives him the necessary prestige to have clients from the highest social spheres, as well as patriarchs of the Catholic Church in Mexico. Thanks to this trajectory and the trust he earned, in 1945 Frank Ronay was granted the privilege of designing and manufacturing the crown of the Virgin of Guadalupe to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of her coronation in 1895.
